APC by Schneider Electric unveiled plans to launch a new software certification for partners to help the channel drive data center and edge services through its software-as-a-service (SaaS) EcoStruxure IT platform.

“This is extremely exciting because this certification walks their partners through their existing offer EcoStruxure IT,” said Chelsie Ritarossi, manager of channel field marketing and enablement for APC by Schneider Electric in an interview with CRN at XChange 2019 in Las Vegas this week. The event is hosted by CRN parent The Channel Company. “It’s about their connected products or things like their UPS systems, all the way through their software platform. It’s great. Partners actually get really good exposure to what the software looks like, how to use it and how to essentially fold it into their practice.”

APC by Schneider Electric’s new Software Digital Services certification will become available globally to channel partners sometime between the end of March and early April, Ritarossi said.

EcoStruxure IT is a data center infrastructure management SaaS solution infused with predictive analytics, remote monitoring and lifecycle management capabilities to supply partners visibility into customers' physical infrastructure to Strengthen performance and efficiently, as well as reduce cost. The platform not only helps partners manage and monitor data centers, but also distributed environments, according to Ritarossi.

The company is trying to onboard new solution providers through the Software Digital Services certification by offering incentives such as a free node to EcoStruxure software.

“This certification comes with specific benefits. Things like a free node to the EcoStruxure software so you can deploy it in your own environment and be able to test it out and showcase it to customers,” said Ritarossi.

EcoStruxure IT enables partners to quickly supply customers feedback from data collected and assessments on various physical assets such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), cooling units, intelligent power distribution units (PDUs), physical security and emergency management, to name a few.

Ritarossi said APC by Schneider Electric partners should be pumped about the new software service certification in 2019. “We’re taking everything from what they call the digital edge and incorporating it into one,” she said. “It’s really great and impactful.”

Before You Go

Credit/Debit Cards
Contact your bank and credit/debit card companies to let them know you will be abroad (when and where you will be going), so that your withdrawals are not denied or your credit card cancelled. The credit card and/or debit card you plan to use while abroad must be in your name, not your parents'. (Most major lenders will, at the request of the cardholder, provide an additional card in the name of a dependent authorized to use the account.)

ATM Fees
Check with your bank for information about daily/weekly limits on withdrawals, and about fees charged for the use of foreign ATM's. When withdrawing money from an ATM abroad, you will likely be charged a fee at the foreign bank, in addition to your own bank's fee. Ask your bank before you go if they have a partnership bank in the country where you will be living; if so, you might be able to avoid ATM fees.

Foreign Currency
Some places you may be traveling do not always accept credit card as readily as in the U.S. Buy some currency to have when you arrive. You may need money to get from the airport to your accommodation or school, and changing money in airports is often more expensive than at a bank.  Communication with your bank prior to departure is important.  Check with your financial institution regarding the exchange of currency.  It is also helpful to inform your bank of your travel days for leaving and returning to the United States.

Be aware that traveler's checks are becoming increasingly difficult to cash, especially in Europe.  They are not highly recommended as a primary or secondary source of cash on most programs.

Look for student rate flights through companies such as STA and Student Universe. These companies tend to offer cheaper rates for students and other companies may offer cheaper rates for anyone under the age of 26.

Security
Be careful with purses, wallets, and backpacks, as they are easier targets for pickpockets.  Do not carry all of your money in one place, and if possible, have a secure place to store these items in your dormitory or host family, while you are not intending to use them.

Budget
Always carry your student ID and International Student Identity Card with you, as many places offer students discounts or even free admission. Keep an eye out for student rates, and remember it never hurts to ask! Try to avoid eating out during the week; cooking for yourself and/or eating with your host family will save a lot of money for weekends, travel, souvenirs, etc. 

Travel
When you arrive, consider buying a long-term bus or train pass; a monthly or multiple trip pass is likely a better value than daily passes. Make a budget for travel in addition to your weekly expense budget. Be aware of the current exchange rates in the countries you plan to travel to- this can greatly affect your travel budget.

Projection emerged that the Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Monday Okpebholo, popularly known as ‘Akpakomiza’ is likely to clinch the 2024 All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Edo State.

The outcome of the independent opinion poll conducted by the Esan Alliance Movement (EAM) for all the governorship aspirants in the state, which results were available to journalists in Benin City on Thursday, showed the Edo Central APC Senator towered high above other aspirants.

Some of the contenders for the APC governorship ticket are Prince Clem Agba, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Hon Festus Ebea, Dr David Imuse, Prof. Oserhiemen Osunbor and Prince Kassim Afegbua, among others.

The poll, conducted by a team of data analysts, also took into cognisance the popularity and financial capability of the aspirants, their individual experience, acceptability, contribution to the party and issues of zoning.

A statement signed by the coordinator, Samson Okoduwa and Imade Osagie, said: “Our projection ahead of the Edo 2024 governorship primaries, the APC aspirant, Monday Okpebholo is expected to win the party primaries and eventually fly the party’s flag.

“The poll which also took into cognisance the strong agitation from the people of Edo central senatorial district to produce Obaseki’s successor also pointed to Okpebholo while Hon Festus Ebea and Col David Imuse came second and third respectively.

“The poll, which was conducted using a combination of phone surveys, questionnaires and influencers also looked at the spread of aspirants in winning the governorship election if given the party’s ticket.

“We also identify that youths who are more disposed to see a younger candidate emerged governor in the 2024 governorship race in Edo state.

“Conclusively, Okpebholo community service and contribution in strengthening the APC party in a zone considered to be a no go area for the APC when others had lost hope in the APC was a strong favouring factor.”
